This cooking adventure came about with the simple desire for donuts. I didn't want to pull out the mixing bowls and wait so I gave this a try. Success! These were so good and quick to make. My family ate them up before I had a chance to plate them. I am sharing this recipe with you and hope you enjoy them as well.
Ingredients
12 sweet rolls ( I love King's Hawaiian)
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup of milk or half and half
oil for frying ( these can be made in an air fryer as well😉)
Lemon glaze
1 lemon
1/2 cup of confection sugar
Instructions:
Heat oil to 365 degrees. ( a frying thermometer is helpful if not experienced)
In a large bowl mix eggs, milk and vanilla
Make sure heat is ready for your donuts 365 degrees
Put your rolls inside the bowls making sure they are coated with your egg and milk solution. Do not soak them! You just want them coated and slightly absorbed by the milk and egg mixture.
Drop a few at a time into the oil. They will cook quickly toss or turn if needed. If using an air fryer, fry them at 400 for about 10 minutes.
Remove the donuts when golden brown.
Topping options
Powder sugar
Lemon Glaze
Lemon Curd
Chocolate Ganache
Maple Syrup
Whip cream
You can also fill these donuts using a pastry tip and your favorite filling. You can fill with ganache, raspberry preserves, nutella or even vanilla cream.. Yummy!😛
